Total cheese box miles from Lymington = 124
- Lyburn Old Winchester approximately 250g approx
- Tunworth Hampshire Camembert 250g
- Isle of Wight Blue 180g
- New Forest Rosary Goat's Garlic & Herb 100g
Old Winchester - hard, complex and crystalline - reminiscent of an old gouda with a lovely nuttiness. Made by Lyburn Cheese near Salisbury. (17 cheese miles from Lymington)
- Try matching Old Winchester with an English sparkling wine or a crisp white wine. Brown or amber ales also pair well, as does a glass of Speyside of Highland Scotch.
Tunworth - Hampshire's very British, Camembert – a soft, white-rinded cheese wonderfully reminiscent of its French cousin. soft, thin and wrinkled rind, a rich and earthy mushroom fragrance, and a long-lasting sweet and nutty flavour. (45 cheese miles from Lymington)
- Try matching Tunworth with sparkling wine, a big Italian red or cider.
Isle of Wight Blue - was first made in 2006 and since then has gone on to win multiple awards. It is a naturally rinded soft cheese with an initially mild blue flavour. However, as the cheese matures, it packs much more of a punch. The cheese is covered with beautiful green, blue and grey moulds which add to the character of the cheese, both in flavour and appearance and a whole little cheese looks great on a cheeseboard. Once opened, the cheese is still very pleasing to the eye, with the sporadic blue patches on the creamy, yellow cheese working well together. This is a cheese that really benefits from some time out of the fridge so allow at least an hour at room temperature before eating. (19 cheese miles from Lymington)
- A nice porter or stout is a great accompaniment for this cheese but on some occasions we also like a slightly sweet wine.
Rosary Goat's Button - Rosary garlic and herb is a fresh, soft goats cheese with garlic and a delicate coating of parsley. It is faintly acidic and has a gorgeous creamy texture. (17 cheese miles from Lymington)
- Try pairing Rosary goat's cheese with a glass of Scotch or a belgian beer - wine lovers match with a sauvignon blanc or a clean, crisp, Provencal style rosé.
